摘要: This paper outlines a collective action approach to study nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). We contend that while political scientists and sociologists have extensively written about NGOs, they not systematically examined fundamental issues such as why where NGOs emerge, how function, are structured, what strategies employ mitigate agency conflicts ensure accountability. Instead of theorizing category, NGO scholars developed descriptive typologies relevant small subsets the population. In contrast, non-profit literature, which studies broadly same actor has focused on questions inherent in any endeavor. conclude by employing perspective, specifically theories firm, will be able develop explanations origin, structure, strategy superior explanatory power generalizable across NGOs.
