摘要: STUDY OBJECTIVES Serotonin, acting in the peripheral nervous system, can exacerbate sleep-related apnea, and systemically administered serotonin antagonists reduce sleep-disordered respiration rats bulldogs. Because cannabinoid receptor agonists are known to inhibit excitatory effects of on nodose ganglion cells, we examined endogenous (oleamide) exogenous (delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol; delta9THC) cannabimimetic agents apnea. DESIGN Sleep architecture, respiratory pattern, apnea expression were assessed by polysomnography. A repeated measures, within-subjects, fully nested crossover design was used which each animal recorded exactly 12 occasions. PARTICIPANTS Eleven adult male Sprague-Dawley instrumented for chronic INTERVENTIONS Animals following intraperitoneal injection various doses delta9THC, oleamide, serotonin, alone combination. MEASUREMENTS AND RESULTS Our data show that delta9THC oleamide stabilized during all sleep stages. With index decreased 42% (F=2.63; p=0.04) 58% (F=2.68; NREM REM sleep, respectively. Oleamide produced equivalent suppression. This observation suggests an important role endocannabinoids maintaining autonomic stability sleep. blocked serotonin-induced exacerbation (p<0.05 each), suggesting inhibitory coupling between cannabinoids receptors system may act expression. CONCLUSIONS study demonstrates potent suppression both cannabinoids. These findings relevance pathogenesis pharmacological treatment breathing disorders.
