摘要: Anterior chamber aqueous humor flow rate was measured in unanesthetized owl monkeys using fluorophotometry and anterior photogrammetry. The mean turnover constant (ko) 0.01, the 2.75 microliters min-1, volume 317 16 eyes of eight monkeys. A significantly lower (11%, P less than 0.002) afternoon compared to rates morning. This diurnal cycle is analogous fluctuations humans supports hypothesis that formation primates regulated by endogenous mechanisms. To investigate role adrenergic mechanisms regulating flow, dose-response effect topical timolol (0.5-100 micrograms) measured. Five drops were used minimize systemic absorption. Lower concentrations (0.01% 0.05%) caused sporadic changes flow. Topical 0.1% (5 decreased treated eye baseline while contralateral not different from Higher (0.5% 1%) a dose-related bilateral decrease These results indicate even with small volumes absorption higher occurs. Significant local inhibition occurred following 5 micrograms whereas an equal 100 microgram dose. suggest standard clinical dose (approximately supramaximal for decreasing flow.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
