摘要: Abstract Syracuse, New York is working under a court-ordered agreement to limit combined sewer overflows (CSO) local surface waters. Green infrastructure technologies, including green roofs, are being implemented as part of CSO abatement strategy and develop co-benefits diminished stormwater runoff, decreased loading contaminants the wastewater system The objective this study was examine quantity quality discharge associated with precipitation events over an annual cycle from roof in NY compare measurements monitoring program results irrigation experiment. Wet deposition, drainage, water were measured for 87 storm during approximately 12 month period 2011–2012. Water nutrient (total phosphorus, total nitrogen, dissolved organic carbon) mass balances conducted on event basis evaluate retention annually growing non-growing seasons. These compared hydrological manipulation experiment, which comprised artificially watering roof. Loadings nutrients calculated experimental actual storms using concentration flow data discharging effective retaining (mean percent 96.8%, SD = 2.7%, n = 87), although relative fraction retained increases size event. There no difference Drainage waters exhibited high warm temperature season, particularly nitrogen carbon. Overall, losses low because strong water. However, there marked variation by season due variations concentrations runoff.
