摘要: The equations for three‐dimensional, time‐dependent convection in a gravitationally modulated fluid layer heated from below are solved numerically using the Galerkin method space and Crank–Nicolson scheme time. Nonlinear solutions obtained Prandtl number of air (0.71) two Rayleigh numbers above value onset oscillatory convection. Multiples fundamental frequency were chosen order to study effects possible resonances gravitational modulation. Modulation causes transition traveling wave convection, which persists unmodulated case, standing phase locking occurs moderate values amplitude dimensionless modulation (scaled with standard acceleration gravity) range 0 3. For larger amplitude, breaks down chaotic time dependence occurs.
