Collection, analysis and cryopreservation of semen from Malayan gaur ( Bos gaurus hubbacki ): A preliminary study

摘要: The Malayan gaur (Bos gaurus hubbacki) or Seladang is classified as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN). mainly distributed in tropical woodlands Peninsular Malaysia Southern Thailand. aim this study was to collect, analyze cryopreserve semen wild gaur. Transrectal massage (TM) electroejaculation (EEJ) technique applied collection then cryopreserved liquid nitrogen using slow freezing technique. Makler counting chamber used evaluate sperm concentration motility, while viability morphology fresh post-thaw determined eosin-nigrosin staining protocol. As a result, we have successfully collected EEJ Sperm morphological changes were found undesirable due complication cryopreservation process. On basis current it can be concluded that bulls obtain with no evidence rectal trauma. Optimization process needed maintain cryoviability good quality. data generated would useful conservation genetic diversity program
