摘要: This field study investigated helper behaviour in the care of young a small social carnivore, dwarf mongoose (Helogale parvula). The frequency with which individually marked mongooses, living six packs, guarded at den (babysitting) and brought food to was recorded all-day morning watches. principal helpers were subordinate adult ♀♀ yearlings. In pack known kinship relationships, an immigrant ♀ did more babysitting than any other members, all whom related young. Possible advantages aid-giving are discussed.
