摘要: Considerable resources are required to gain maximal insights into the diverse big data sets in biomedicine. In this Review, authors discuss how crowdsourcing, form of collaborative competitions (known as Challenges), can engage scientific community provide expertise and methodological approaches that robustly address some most pressing questions genetics, genomics biomedical sciences. The generation large-scale is creating unprecedented opportunities for basic translational science. Typically, producers perform initial analyses, but it very likely informative methods may reside with other groups. Crowdsourcing analysis complex massive has emerged a framework find robust methodologies. When crowdsourcing done competitions, known Challenges, validation inherently addressed. Challenges also encourage open innovation, create communities solve important problems, foster creation dissemination well-curated repositories.
