Rare multiple primary malignancies among surgical patients-a single surgical unit experience.

摘要: Background: A remarkable number of patients presents with multiple primary malignancies (MPM) over their lifetimes. In most cases inherited syndromes, iatrogenic, or viral factors are implicated, while in some it is not possible to ascertain a clear aetiopathogenesis. Methods: Starting from series 315 MPM, we focused our attention on those extremely infrequent combinations tumours. We retrospectively analysed patients’ characteristics, type first and second tumour the interval between two made comparison own data surveillance, epidemiology, end results cancer registries, largest global this topic. Results: Six presented unusual associations, namely, central nervous system (CNS)/colon, testis/stomach, colon/CNS, CNS/kidney, uterus/soft tissue, bone/breast. The median age was 50.5 years at diagnosis neoplasm male:female ratio 1:1. All six underwent surgery for both 11.3 (range 1–36 years). Five were given chemotherapy as adjuvant systemic treatment, them CNS tumours also received radiotherapy. Discussion: behaviour these rare neoplasms. More frequent aetiological evaluated.
