Colorectal Cancer in the Elderly Patient: The Role of Neo-adjuvant Therapy.

摘要: Background Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy has a significant role in downstaging cancer. It improves the local control of disease and can make conservative resection rectal cancer possible. Methods We enrolled 114 patients with subperitoneal who underwent neoadjuvant chemoradio-therapy radical excision total mesorectal (TME). The primary endpoint was oncological outcomes secondary surgical outcomes.We evaluate experience multidisciplinary team integrated treatment rectum. Results Surgical procedures performed were abdominal perineal 4 cases (3.5%), anterior 89 (78%), Hartmann's procedure 5 (4.4%), ultralow coloanal anastomosis diverting stoma 16 (14%).Local recurrence occurred 6 (5.2%), overall survival 71.9% at years disease-free about 60%. Conclusions effect pathological amounted to 58.8%, including cPR. pathologic complete remission 8.8% cases.The therapy be achieved when this is associated correct technique TME prognosis defined by an anatomopathological examination according Quirke's protocol.
