摘要: Premises associated with commercial sex-including brothels, striptease clubs, sex cinemas, and shops-have increasingly been accepted as legitimate land uses, albeit ones whose location needs to be controlled because of assumed 'negative externalities'. However, the planning licensing regulations excluding such premises from areas residential use are often predicated on assumptions nuisance that have not empirically substantiated. Accordingly, this paper reports a survey those living close industry in New South Wales, Australia. The results suggest although some residents strong moral objections premises, general note few negative impacts local amenity or quality life, distance premise being poor predictor residents' experiences nuisance. These f ndings considered relation literatures sexuality space given regulation which ultimately appears reproduce heteronormative moralities rather than respond genuine environmental nuisances.
