Prevalence of functional gastrointestinal disorders in Mexican schoolchildren

摘要: Abstract Introduction and aims Functional gastrointestinal disorders are among the most common chronic in children worldwide. Studies schoolchildren from various Latin American countries have shown a high prevalence of functional disorders, but their Mexican is unknown. Our aim was to assess accordance with Rome III criteria. Material methods Children adolescents public private schools Monterrey Cuernavaca privately completed Spanish version Questionnaire on Pediatric Gastrointestinal Symptoms-Rome Version (QPGS-III) class, using same questionnaires previous studies conducted by our group other countries. Results A total 362 (public school 82, 280), mean age 11.6 ± 2.1 years QPGS-III. Ninety-nine (27.3%) met criteria for FGID, according constipation FGID (12.6%). Irritable bowel syndrome (6.4%) associated abdominal pain. There no significant difference FGIDs between sexes (P =.8). Conclusions We found school-aged adolescents.
