摘要: Although gum kondagogu (Cochlospermum gossypium) is grouped under karaya (Sterculia sp.), it differs significantly in terms of physicochemical properties and chemical composition does not conform to the confirmatory tests prescribed for ([Janaki]). Gum has wide applications pharmaceutical food industries, whereas use yet be explored. In this context, a short-term toxicity study on was undertaken rats. The fed rats at 0, 0.2%, 1% 5% (w/w) feed, 90 days. Biochemical parameters were measured assess end period. results indicated no significant changes growth pattern, haematological indices (RBC, WBC, Hb, PCV, MCV, MCH, MCHC, differential leucocyte counts), biochemical analytes (glucose, urea nitrogen, total protein, albumin, bilirubin, creatinine, sodium potassium ions), activities plasma liver enzymes (alkaline phosphatase, alanine amino-transaminase, aspartate aminotransaminase, lactate dehydrogenase, glutathione S-transferase gamma-glutamyl transpeptidases organ body mass ratio (brain, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys spleen). Histopathology kidney also did reveal any abnormality. An increased faecal bulk observed with kondagogu. However, moisture content female only different (P=<0.05) as compared controls. Thus, can inferred, based present investigations, that potential application additive, similar karaya. Feeding much higher level (5%) than expected consumption additive result toxic effect. Being non-toxic, excellent unique composition.
