Unusual Ferroelectricity of Trans-Unitcell Ion-Displacement and Multiferroic Soliton in Sodium and Potassium Hydroxides.

摘要: We show the first-principles evidence of a hitherto unreported type ferroelectricity with ultralong ion-displacement in sodium and potassium hydroxides. Even small number proton vacancies can completely change mode proton-transfer from intra-unitcell to trans-unitcell, giving rise multiferroic soliton “mobile” magnetism tremendous polarization that be orders magnitude higher compared most perovskite ferroelectrics. Their vertical polarizations thin-film are robust against depolarizing field, rendering various designs two-dimensional ferroelectric field-transistors nondestructive readout ultrahigh on/off ratio via sensing switchable metallic/insulating state.
