摘要: Abstract. Daytime equatorial electrojet plasma irregularities were investigated using five distinct radar diagnostics at Jicamarca including range-time-intensity (RTI) mapping, Faraday rotation, imaging, oblique scattering, and multiple-frequency scattering the new AMISR prototype UHF radar. Data suggest existence of density striations separated by 3–5 km propagating slowly downward. The may be caused neutral atmospheric turbulence, a possible scenario for their formation is discussed. Doppler shifts type 1 echoes observed VHF frequencies are compared interpreted in light model Farley Buneman waves based on kinetic ions fluid electrons with thermal effects included. Finally, up-down east-west asymmetries evident observations described quantified.
