Avian Community Analysis in Fragmented Landscapes of Cachar District, Assam

摘要: The bird communities in four major landscapes, viz., tea garden, secondary growth, degraded forest and wetland, Cachar district the southern part of Assam comprised 76 species belonging to 12 orders, 31 families 56 genera. Both taxonomic diversity were highest wetland landscape followed by estate. White-backed Vulture Gyps benghalensis (Gmelin) Lesser Adjutant Leptotilos javanicus, which are listed IUCN Critically Endangered (CR) Vulnerable (VU) categories, respectively, sighted occasionally landscape. Red-vented bulbul, common myna, cattle egret, pond heron, small bee-eater, pied starling, black drongo, magpie robin, house crow sparrow most abundant these fragmented landscapes.
