Down-conversion photoluminescence of ZrO2:Er3+ coatings formed by plasma electrolytic oxidation

摘要: Abstract Plasma electrolytic oxidation of zirconium in alkaline solution containing Er 2 O 3 powder was used for preparation ZrO :Er 3+ coatings. Photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra excited by ultraviolet irradiation are composed broad PL band associated with host and sharp bands corresponding to f – transitions . The strongest green the range from 540 nm 580 nm is assigned 4 S 3/2  →  I 15/2 transition. excitation characterize 250 nm 350 nm charge transfer state series peaks 530 nm which ground higher levels. Obtained results allowed identification down-conversion mechanism.
