摘要: Previously, we reported that a synthetic undecapeptide, KLKLLLLLKLK-NH2, and its D-enantiomer have potent bactericidal activities against both Gram-positive Gram-negative bacteria. Here examined the mode of action KLKLLLLLKLK-NH2 with special reference to effect on bacterial membranes. We found outer inner membrane Escherichia coli become permeable low molecular mass substances when treated this peptide. Under these conditions, bacteria lost ability synthesize ATP transport proline, suggesting their electrochemical potential was disrupted. This peptide appears form numerous channels in membranes interfere functions, resulting cell death.
