摘要: Amoebic liver abscess (ALA) is an uncommon but potentially life-threatening complication of infection with the protozoan parasite Entamoeba histolytica. E histolytica widely distributed throughout tropics and subtropics, causing up to 40 million infections annually. The transmitted via fecal-oral route, once it establishes itself in colon, has propensity invade mucosa, leading ulceration colitis, disseminate distant extraintestinal sites, most common which liver. authors provide a topical review ALA summarize clinical data from series 29 patients presenting seven hospitals Toronto, Ontario, nonendemic setting, over 30 years.
