Received March 12, 2014 Accepted May 6, Published 7, Abstract Early alterations in textural characteristics quantitative ultrasound spectral parametric maps, conjunction with changes their mean values, are demonstrated here, for the first time, to be capable predicting ultimate clinical/pathologic responses breast cancer patients chemotherapy. Mechanisms cell death, induced by chemotherapy within tumor, introduce morphological cancerous cells, resulting measurable tissue echogenicity. We have that development such is reflected early followed consequent values. The spectral/textural biomarkers derived on this basis been as non-invasive surrogates response. Particularly, sensitive size concentration acoustic scatterers could predict treatment up 80% sensitivity specificity (p=0.050), after one week 3-4 months However, characterizing heterogeneities distribution scatterers, differentiate between responding non-responding 100% 93% (p=0.002). Such prediction permits offering effective alternatives standard treatment, or switching a salvage therapy, refractory patients.
