摘要: Abstract This paper deals with two separate case studies investigating the froth phase performance and characterisation of industrial rougher/scavenger flotation circuits. Froth was quantified using a mass balance approach to estimate zone recovery. Measured characteristics included frother solution concentration determined by gas chromatography, time taken for an equilibrium sample decay one-half its original height. The latter measurement is referred as ‘froth half-life’ strongly linked stability. Special methods techniques developed preserve in measure half-life are briefly described. type first study mixture straight branched alcohols, whilst second aldehydes triethoxybutane. focussed on circuit treating low grade ore containing only small fraction floatable copper sulphide minerals, while higher complex significant quantities chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite pyrite. It found that recovery valuable mineral generally decreased down-the-bank Moreover, decreases significantly limit overall cell achievable from plant scavenger cells. However, decrease could not be removal pulp concentrate product preceding rougher stages. Measurements residual suggested that, approximately, 5–10% added removed into concentrate, remainder appearing tailings. finding there apparently adequate There was, however, correlation half-life, also decreasing down-the-bank. A simple, empirical model, based residence gas, proposed here predict Further, it stability, measured presence particles froth, poorly mineralised characterised short and, potentially, importance stability confirmed separately conducted laboratory experiments. These experiments demonstrated wide variation behaviour between different types.
