摘要: Skeletal muscle stem cells or satellite are responsible for regeneration in the adult. Although highly resistant to stress, and display greater capacity repair molecular damage than committed progeny, their regenerative potential declines with age. During ageing, switch a state of permanent cell cycle arrest senescence which prevents activation. A recent study reveals that relies on defective autophagy, quality control mechanism degrades damaged proteins organelles. Molecular is generated by oxidative stress also promotes epigenetic changes activate expression master genes, double-hit ensures senescence. Importantly, genetic, pharmacological correction autophagy reverses restores geriatric mice, perspectives modulating age-related functional decline muscle. This provides new clues understand organismal ageing.
