Insulin Misuse: A Review of an Overlooked Psychiatric Problem

摘要: A number of forms insulin misuse, other than the usual noncompliance, have been reported in literature on treatment diabetes mellitus. These include attempted and completed suicide, factitious hypoglycemia, Munchausen syndrome by proxy, use substance abusers. Such misuse has involved diabetic patients, their family members medical staff, as well others. The reports suicide attempts reveal an equal distribution between sexes (rather expected preponderance females), underrepresentation adolescents, a high rate recurrence. Recommendations for are discussed clinicians investigators regarding this overlooked problem.
