Molecular characterization of Echinococcus granulosus in south-eastern Romania: evidence of G1–G3 and G6–G10 complexes in humans

摘要: Abstract Echinococcus granulosus is the aetiological agent of cystic echinococcosis (CE), which a public health problem in many eastern European countries, particularly Romania, where infection causes high number human and animal cases. To shed light on transmission patterns parasite, we performed genotyping analysis 60 cyst samples obtained from patients who live south-eastern Romania underwent surgery for liver or lung CE. DNA was extracted endocysts fluids, fragments cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 NADH dehydrogenase mitochondrial genes ( cox1 nd1 , respectively) were amplified by PCR sequenced. We found that most analysed (59/60) belonged to G1–G3 complex E. sensu stricto), contains widespread infective strains parasite. also identified first patient infected non-G1–G3 genotype this country. As sequence sample showed maximum homology with G6–G10 canadensis ), is, all likelihood, G7 genotype, often pigs dogs countries Europe.
