摘要: Drug-eluting stents, or intracoronary stents that combine the local delivery of antirestenotic pharmacologic therapies while maintaining mechanical advantage bare metal over balloon angioplasty alone, are a highly complex technology have profoundly affected practice percutaneous coronary intervention last 5 years. These devices were designed specifically to treat neointimal hyperplasia occurring after conventional stent placement, and been remarkably successful in this regard. However, recent concerns raised regarding long-term safety these devices, particularly when used outside specific patient lesion subsets studied pivotal randomized trials led device approval by regulatory bodies within United States abroad.
