摘要: AISI 440C martensitic stainless steel is the material of choice for high pressure oxygen turbopump (HPOTP) space shuttle main engine (SSME). Tests have been done over a range sliding speeds from 0.5 to 2.0 m s−1, initial hertzian stresses 0.915 3.66 GPa, and bulk temperatures −184 °C (liquid temperature) 760 °C, which cover variations thought exist in HPOTP. Data are presented form contour wear maps allow more direct view interdependencies major tribological variables than can be obtained with data vs. single variable. Wear used as tool aid determination regions dominated by given mode. Parametric combinations that result transitions between modes easily detected use maps. simplify design identifying speed, load, temperature need avoided, because undesirable modes.
