摘要: Abstract The effect of 3-nitropropionic acid (3-NP), a selective inhibitor succinic dehydrogenase, preconditioning on postischemic neurological deterioration and infarction was examined in gerbils after transient ischemia. animals were pretreated with 1–80mg/kg 3-NP 1 day before ischemia induced by two 10-min occlusions the left common carotid artery. Four milligrams per kilogram pretreatment significantly ameliorated (stroke index at 7 days postischemia, 1.4±1.5 vs. 7.4±5.4 4 mg/kg-pretreated non-pretreated animals: mean±SD) reduced infarct volume (24±4.8 43±12 mm3). One 20 mg/kg milder neuroprotection, 80 aggravated stroke symptoms infarction. Thus, appropriate doze is effective ameliorating reducing volume.
