摘要: During coal combustion, hazardous elements are discharged that impair environmental quality. Plant cover is the first available surface for atmospheric pollutants in terrestrial ecosystems. The aim of this study was to evaluate genotoxicity aqueous extract native plant, Baccharis trimera, exposed and emissions from a thermal power plant (coal-fired Candiota, Brazil), correlating seasonality, wind tunnel predominance, presence inorganic elements. aerial parts B. trimera analyzed by particle-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) spectrometry, evaluated ex vivo comet assay. genotoxic effects extracts four sites located area around were assay peripheral human lymphocytes. Winter samples showed greater levels metals than summer samples. Genotoxicity detected collected region extraction burning coal. Extracts site impacted dominant induced more damage DNA those other sites. Based on our data, we can suggest winter carried through responsible observed trimera.
