摘要: Given the high prevalence of infection with human herpesvirus type 8, Italy is an area utmost interest for studying Kaposi sarcoma (KS). We investigated risk KS in transplant recipients compared general population. A longitudinal study was performed from 1970 to 2006 4767 kidney, heart, liver, and lung 7 Italian transplantation centers. The sample included 72.3% male patients overall patient median age 48 years. Patient-years (PYs) at were computed 30 days posttransplantation date KS, death, last follow-up, or closure (December 31, 2007). Standardized incidence ratios (SIRs) 95% confidence intervals quantify Incidence rate identify factors using adjusted Poisson regression. Based on 33,621 PYs, diagnosed 73 (62 men): 31 kidney recipients, 27 heart 8 liver recipients. 217 cases per 10(5) a significantly increased SIR 125. particularly women (n = 34) 428) but decreased time posttransplantation. primary predictors sex, older age, transplantation. 5-fold reduction observed after 18 months After adjustment, born southern northern demonstrated significant 2.2-fold risk. Our findings confirm that early period, who have undergone solid-organ transplantation, those are greater These underscore need appropriate models monitoring especially and, particular, postoperative period.
