摘要: Bacterial translocation from the gastrointestinal tract and macrophage activation are central to current theories of sepsis. The relevance both in obstructive jaundice is unclear. effect bile duct ligation for 7 days on bacterial mesenteric lymph nodes a rat model was examined. Compared with an incidence zero sham-ligated controls, bile-duct ligated rats had 67 per cent Gram-negative colonization nodes. This associated significant (P < 0.001) decrease tumour necrosis factor, superoxide anion nitric oxide production compared that sham controls. Spontaneous occurs experimental marked suppression activation. suggests mechanism whereby jaundiced patients may be more susceptible persistent infection but relatively protected against uncontrolled
