Sumatriptan (50 mg tablets vs. 25 mg suppositories) in the acute treatment of menstrually related migraine and oral contraceptive-induced menstrual migraine: a pilot study.

摘要: Migraine attacks are common in the perimenstrual period (menstrually-related migraine, MRM) and can be particularly exacerbated by cyclic suspension of oral contraceptives (oral contraceptive-induced menstrual OCMM). This cross-over, randomised study evaluated efficacy tolerability rectal (25 mg) (50 mg) sumatriptan treatment 232 migraine (135 MRM 97 OCMM).Two hours after suppository administration, 72% patients group achieved pain relief 24% were free; tablet percentages 66% 27%, respectively. In OCMM 55% improved at 2 h with suppositories 46% tablets, 27% pain-free 18% tablets.Fifty percent given 4 h post-treatment 47% those tablets.
