Evaluation of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) plate and screw system for bone fixation.

摘要: In this study, we investigated the efficacy and safety of recently developed modifiable bioabsorbable plates screws, which are made PLGA [poly(lactic-co-glycolic acids)]. An in vitro extract test a mammalian erythrocyte micronucleus revealed that neither cytotoxicity nor genotoxicity was observed with screws tested study. vivo mandible fracture model rabbit introduced to evaluate PLGA-based screws. At 4, 6, 8, 10 weeks after implantation, tissue specimens were taken from implanted sites rabbits histologic analysis performed for each specimens. After 4 weeks, plate covered by connective tissues severe chronic active inflammation soft observed. 6 decreased some exhibited new bone formation around periosteum. 8 all samples, where almost no involved, implying healing fracture. Given these, it can be suggested biodegradable screw system evaluated study is effective treatment fracture, one regions under high load-bearing condition.
