Faculty Perceptions of Readiness to Implement Interprofessional Education in Athletic Training

摘要: PURPOSE As the athletic training profession advances, master’s degree accreditation standards aim to position trainers as key players on interprofessional healthcare teams. Interprofessional education were recently introduced academic leaders elements in professional of trainers. While current reflect essential skills for entry-level clinicians, faculty instructing these may require additional development. METHODS The objective this study was explore educators’ perceptions and examine perceived barriers related implementation IPE curricula. An electronic survey administered a stratified, random sample 1000 program from National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) member database. Participating completed Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale (IEPS) set Likert-scale questions regarding education. RESULTS results indicated that differences exist readiness implement based rank or role, years teaching experience, prior experience skill level using IPE, geographical location within institution. CONCLUSION Together, findings suggest integration should include initiatives provide administrative support, delineate leadership roles, offer formal IP development, create closer physical proximity among disciplines campuses.
