摘要: Abstract Zooplankton biomass and indices of grazing (gut fluorescence), respiration (electron transfer system, ETS), ammonia excretion (glutamate dehydrogenase, GDH) growth (aspartate transcarbamylase, ATC) were studied around the island Gran Canaria (Canary Islands) during so-called “late winter bloom”. Four size classes (100–200, 200–500, 500–1000 >1000 μm) to assess contribution each fraction mesoscale plankton distribution island. Cyclonic anticyclonic eddies observed downstream transporting entraining water rich in chlorophyll. showed a high variability but it was dramatically lower core cyclonic eddy induced by island, probably due divergent effect produced physical structure. A filament relatively cold-water also found reaching from upwelling area off northwest Africa. High zooplankton association with vicinity shed Specific gut content higher values boundaries structures, while ETS GDH activities where windward both depending on considered. With restrictions using those indices, control primary production 11–22% up 41% calculated ingestion metabolism could be supported nonpigmented food. Calculated rates support about 8% production. The low impact autotrophic production, index relation presence suggest that accumulation causative mechanism for leeward
