摘要: Most questionnaires used for physical activity (PA) surveillance have been developed adults aged ≤65 years. Given the health benefits of PA older and aging population, it is important to include 65+ years in surveillance. However, few studies examined how well understand questionnaires. This study aimed document adults' understanding questions from International Questionnaire (IPAQ), which worldwide Participants were 41 community-dwelling 65-89 They each completed IPAQ a face-to-face semi-structured interview, using "think-aloud" method, they expressed their thoughts out loud as answered questions. Interviews transcribed coded according three-stage model: intent question; performing primary task (conducting mental operations required formulate response); response formatting (mapping into pre-specified options). difficulties occurred during stages. Errors included recalling an "average" week, not previous 7 days; including lasting <10 minutes/session; reporting same twice or thrice; total time only part that was at intensity specified question. unclear what activities fitted within question's scope variety strategies determining frequency duration activities. experienced more with moderate-intensity walking than vigorous-intensity The sitting question, particularly difficult many participants, use answer strategy different about PA. These findings indicate need caution administering ≥65 errors resulted over-reporting, although resulting under-reporting also noted. nature made by possible similar occur when younger populations identified could be minimized small modifications IPAQ.
