摘要: Mortality and morbidity of critically ill diabetic as well nondiabetic patients are improved when blood glucose levels tightly controlled to normoglycemia with intensive insulin therapy during their stay in the care unit (ICU). This has been demonstrated large prospective, randomized, clinical studies for adult admitted surgical medical ICUs. Particularly cardiac surgery patients, hospital survival benefit is most pronounced maintained up 4 years after discharge, without inducing a substantial burden relatives, or society. Mechanistic exploring molecular pathways involved suggest that exerts its beneficial effects mainly through maintenance normal levels.
