Development and evaluation of a brief, peer-led communication skills training program for cancer clinicians

摘要: Aim:  To develop a brief, peer-led communication skills training program for cancer clinicians working in the state of Victoria response to mounting evidence detrimental effects poor doctor–patient communication. The first workshop module developed by Cancer Council Victorian Clinicians Communication Program (VCCCP) focused on delivering bad news patients and their families. Methods:  workshops consisted four-and-a-half hour interactive sessions co-facilitated an oncology clinician clinical psychologist. Data participants' psychosocial beliefs about patient care, confidence practice behavior were collected via self-administered questionnaires before 6 weeks after it. Evaluations structure content immediately workshop. Results:  from 11 programs involving total 93 clinicians. results showed high level participant satisfaction with broad aims components, particular performance facilitators role-play sessions. Pre- post-workshop data significant improvements over time items relating confidence. Despite little change subjective reports most participants reported changes way they delivered since attending VCCCP workshops. Conclusion:  responded needs established that appears acceptable who choose participate.
