Evaluating the effectiveness of exposure and acceptance strategies to improve functioning and quality of life in longstanding pediatric pain--a randomized controlled trial.

摘要: Although several studies have illustrated the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) on adult pain patients, there are few randomized controlled trials children and adolescents. There is particularly a need for pediatric patients who severely disabled by longstanding syndromes. Acceptance Commitment Therapy, as an extension traditional CBT, focuses improving functioning quality life increasing patient's ability to act effectively in concordance with personal values also presence distress. Following pilot study, we sought evaluate ACT-oriented intervention based exposure acceptance strategies compare this multidisciplinary treatment approach including amitriptyline (n=32). The ACT condition underwent relatively brief protocol approximately 10 weekly sessions. Assessments were made before immediately after treatment, well at 3.5 6.5 months follow-up. Prolonged MDT group complicated comparisons between groups follow-up assessments. Results showed substantial sustained improvements group. When assessments included, performed significantly better than perceived functional relation pain, intensity pain-related discomfort (intent-to-treat analyses).
