摘要: Abstract Persian Poppy (Papaver bracteatum L.) is a unique alpine medicinal plant. The plant rare source of opiate thebaine in nature. Thebaine valuable therapeutic precursor alkaloid. Seven ISSR primers and ten AFLP primer combinations were used to examine the genetic variations 67 P.bracteatum genotypes freshly collected from nine wild populations over Iran. A total 52% 48% polymorphism among detected. diversity within was 38% 41% by markers. mean coefficient gene differentiation (Gst) 0.54 (ISSR) 0.52 (AFLP). Geneflow 0.413 0.470 AMOVA confirmed higher variation populations. similarly separated P. accessions into three main one minor group, which correlated with samples geographical distributions. Both markers firmly differentiated out-species accessions, identified unknown accession as oreintale. marker resolution power (Rp = 9.74) more efficient revealing Papaver species. moderate populations, very low geneflow could be largely due anthropogenic factors. It critical protect species implementing in/ex situ conservation programs. results this study for molecular studies, breeding
