摘要: Our objective was to explore alteration of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathway in ampullary carcinoma. Immunohistochemical studies were employed evaluate expression amphiregulin as well and activation EGFR. A lab-developed assay used identify mutations EGFR genes, including KRAS, BRAF, PIK3CA, PTEN, AKT1. total 52 carcinomas identified, 25 intestinal-type 24 pancreatobiliary-type tumors, with intestinal type being associated a younger age at diagnosis (P=0.03) better prognosis (P<0.01). Expression correlated differentiation (P<0.01), but no difference observed between two major histologic types. more commonly seen pancreatobiliary Mutations detected 50% 60% type. KRAS most common gene mutated (42%) (52%). Other included SMAD4 BRAF. codons 12 13 did not adversely affect overall survival. In conclusion, different intestinal- mutation both types; however, incidence appeared be lower compared its pancreatic counterpart, ductal adenocarcinoma. Mutational analysis genes may provide important insights into personalized treatment for patients
