Laccase/TEMPO oxidation in the production of mechanically strong arabinoxylan and glucomannan aerogels

摘要: New wheat arabinoxylan and konjac glucomannan hydrogels aerogels were prepared by hemiacetal crosslinking induced laccase/TEMPO (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl) -catalysed oxidation, which selectively converts the primary hydroxyl groups to aldehydes. The degree of oxidation product aldehydes was ca. 10% total carbohydrates polysaccharides, determination storage viscous moduli oxidised samples showed that they had formed true hydrogels. Two freezing methods for hydrogels, conventional ice crystal templating, investigated aerogel production, templated products especially mechanically strong in compression test against crystals' growth direction. compressive 1200kPa 650kPa aerogels. A morphological study with a scanning electron microscope revealed inner structure Ice round pores diameter 50-100μm. consisted long narrow length few hundred μm width 50-100μm, direction formation. Konjac are approved food-grade materials, is particularly interesting because it can be obtained from cereal processing side streams - thus, these novel have potential various applications, including food, food packaging, pharmacological fields.
