摘要: Of 48 privately-owned bitches evaluated 30 to 35 days after a single, unplanned breeding, (62%) dogs were determined not be pregnant by abdominal ultrasonography and 18 confirmed pregnant. Each dog was hospitalized, allotted treatment group, given prostaglandin F2 alpha, SC, at 1 of 3 dosages: group 1, 0.1 mg/kg body weight, every 8 hours; 2, 0.25 mg/kg, 12 3, hours for 2 then 0.2 thereafter. Plasma from each assayed progesterone concentration before daily until abortion completed. Physical examinations performed hours, respectively. Treatment continued complete as results ultrasonography. Ultrasonography earlier than the scheduled if contractions, fetuses, or bloody dark colored vaginal discharge observed. Dogs 14 breeds treated; weight ranged 5.4 37.7 kg. All aborted all fetuses within 9 beginning treatment. Abdominal palpation satisfactory in confirming whether process had been completed; however, reliable indicator. concentrations prior typical middle phase gestation, with > 6.0 ng/ml. The plasma decreased significantly first therapy. None any fetal material least 24 < 2.0 ng/ml.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
