摘要: An analytical equation is derived for the error heat flow due to thermal imbalance between hot plate and guard in case of an infinite strip. Finite element calculations show that same can be used circular plates with negligible error. The also extended square if corner effects are neglected. By combining present solution a previous one by Woodside [Rev. Sci. Instrum. 28, 1033 (1957)], expression effect distortion heat‐flow lines near gap even when balance obtained. availability this opens possibility using larger gaps than previously, reduce errors. use two‐material specimens (test material over plate, insulant gap) would lessen errors, requirements, edge effects.
