摘要: OBJECTIVE To determine the histological features of renal biopsies Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) patients with and without antiphospholipid antibodies in Saudi population. STUDY DESIGN Cross-sectional, comparative study. PLACE AND DURATION OF King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh, Arabia, from January to December 2013. METHODOLOGY Consecutive SLE admitted Riyadh for biopsy evaluation proteinuria or deterioration function were recruited. involvement divided two groups. Group one included positive APS group negative antibodies. The groups compared. Data was analyzed using simple statistical analysis. RESULTS mean age antibodies-positive 30.37 ± 10.714 years while 33.62 11.717 (p=0.224). Twenty five (83.33%) females 5 (16.67%) males 42 (89.36%) (10.63%) two. Acute lesions like thrombotic microangiopathy 2 (6.7%) chronic focal cortical atrophy found 6 (20%) fibrous intimal hyperplasia 9 (30%). Other significant findings glomerular basement membrane wrinkling 12 (40%), double wall contour 17 (56.7%), adhesions 11 (36.7%) CONCLUSION has specific suggesting an important role pathogenesis nephropathy.
