摘要: Cognitive impairment is common in multiple sclerosis (MS), yet patients seen MS clinics and neurologic practices are not routinely assessed neuropsychologically. In part, poor utilization of NP services may be attributed to a lack consensus among neuropsychologists regarding the optimal approach for evaluating patients. An expert panel composed psychologists from United States, Canada, Kingdom, Australia was convened by Consortium Centers (CMSC) April, 2001. Our objectives were to: (a) propose minimal neuropsychological (NP) examination clinical monitoring research, (b) identify strategies improving assessment future. The reviewed pertinent literature on MS-related cognitive dysfunction, considered psychometric factors relevant assessment, defined purpose characteristics MS, rated practical properties 36 candidate measures based available literature. A 90-minute battery, Minimal Assessment Function (MACFIMS), emerged this discussion. MACFIMS seven tests, covering five domains commonly impaired (processing speed/working memory, learning executive function, visual-spatial processing, word retrieval). It supplemented measure estimated premorbid ability. Recommendations assessing other that potentially confound interpretation data (e.g., visual/sensory/motor impairment, fatigue, depression) offered, as well
