摘要: The genusHampea Schlecht. is included in the Malvaceae, tribe Gossypieae, rather than Bombacaceae where it was originally placed. Discussion includes morphology, geography (central Mexico to western Colombia), reproductive cycle, utilization and vernacular names, cytology (n = 13) of genus. Three species have perfect flowers; remainder are dioecious. 16 (and one variety) that accepted divided into three sections, which further subdivided series. following taxa described as new:H. nutricia, H. mexicana, sphaerocarpa, andH. appendiculata var.longicalyx.
