摘要: A phylogenetic analysis was conducted of the Anthonomus grandis species group (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) and used to test various hypotheses concerning evolution these weevil with their host plants. Phylogenetic indicated that five A. comprise two major clades. In first clade, Boheman is sister taxon hunteri Burke & Cate mallyi Jones Burke, second clade contains townsendi palmeri Burke. The proposed phylogeny knowledge associations strongly support hypothesis genus Hampea (Malvales: Malvaceae), not cotton ( Gossypium), original plant group. Comparison a previously published showed little congruence, suggesting weevils are associated as result shifts colonization processes, opposed co-speciation or coevolution (parallel cladogenesis). Mapping habitat geographic distributions onto indicate preference for general type (montane versus lowland habitats) proximity were probably principal factors responsible observed respective Possible characteristics group, which may favor cospeciation processes in association its plants, discussed light results.
