摘要: Cell growth is a highly regulated, plastic process. Its control involves balancing positive regulation of anabolic processes with negative catabolic processes. Although target rapamycin (TOR) major promoter in response to nutrients and factors, AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) suppresses energy stress. Both TOR AMPK are conserved throughout eukaryotic evolution. Here, we review the fundamentally important roles these two kinases cell particular emphasis on their mutually antagonistic signaling.
