摘要: Despite the lifelong health benefits of physical activity, frailer older adults have typically been excluded from studies promoting more active lifestyles. This study documents recruitment process and costs a multisite to identify effective strategies for recruiting in frailty/injury prevention research. Randomized controlled clinical trials were conducted at 7 sites; an 8th site was compliance study. Interventions reflected center- home-based promotion programs. Site objectives, eligibility criteria, contact screening methods obtained manuals operation. Recruitment results (number screened, rates, randomized screened ratios) ascertained data. Sites furnished estimated (nonlabor expenses, investigator staff time, fringe benefits) up signing consent form. The sites targeted diverse populations sample sizes. majority revised meet their goals. Most over $300 per participant randomized. affected by time spent alleviating concerns about participants' health, essential interactions with family members, arranging transportation. Neither frailty nor intervention intensity found be major predictor outcomes. expense associated selection criteria status target population. Older people can successfully recruited into beneficial programs, but it is often challenging. In planning studies, investigators need aware numbers they may screen different increasing success.
