摘要: BACKGROUND: Locked-plate fracture-fixation techniques and designs continue to evolve. Polyaxial locking plates that allow screw angulation end-point have become available; however, there are no clinical data documenting their strength efficacy, our knowledge. The purpose of this study was evaluate the performance a variable-axis plate in multicenter series periarticular fractures about knee. METHODS: Between 2003 2005, fifty-four patients with total fifty-six were treated polyaxial locked-plate fixation system (DePuy, Warsaw, Indiana). There twenty male thirty-four female mean age fifty-seven years. twenty-five distal femoral thirty-one proximal tibial fractures. Twelve open. Clinical radiographic data, including changes alignment, hardware breakage, or other mechanical complications device, retrospectively reviewed. Function assessed use Knee Society scores. One patient bilateral fracture died less than three months postoperatively, two lost follow-up prior union. Fifty-two fifty-one followed union for minimum six months; duration nine (range, months). RESULTS: Forty-nine (94%) fifty-two united. complications. Most importantly, evidence varus collapse as result failure. deep infections one aseptic nonunion. No fractured, cut out. CONCLUSIONS: performed well, high rate due failure fixation, complex knee. Complication rates similar those historical controls fixed-trajectory plates. offer more versatility without an apparent increase loss reduction. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Therapeutic Level IV.
